Wildlife at Our House

center> This page is just going to be of wildlife we see at or near our house.

You've heard and seen the rooster on the top of a barn, house, shed, whatever, well to go one above that I had a real roadrunner on top of my house, and not just on the roof peak but on top of the swamp cooler!

We went outside this morning so the kids could play in the pool, one of them was about to step into the pool when she yelled "OMA, THERE IS A GIANT SPIDER IN THE WATER!"
So me, who freaks at spiders as it is and the bigger and hairier the more freaky they are to me, I go look and this tarantula was in the kids pool.
So here are some of the pics that a 5 year old took while I was trying to rid the water of this pest, you can get an idea on the size of it from the pics of it on the rake and shovel. And, yes that is me holding the shovel and rake trying to get it onto them so I could carry it far away.

While doing some yardwork today this is what we found...4 in one day!

Damn things freak me out.

RECENTLY ADDED

Doing more yardwork and Pete and the kids find this walking stick...

And yes, that is my hand it is on, it tickled like crazy though, the kids only wanted see it from a distance but they have no worries picking up bugs, weird kids.

Yardwork again and I spot these two...
Ground squirrel (looks like it's made of pottery or something)

and a Bunny

Yet again with the yardwork and this damn thing walks out from the weeds I am pulling, just inches from my hand and scared the crap out of me, so of course I had to trap it then come get my camera and snap some shots of it, turns out it is a whipscorpion or vinegaroon and usually only out at nights and I guess I am lucky that I didn't get sprayed by it.
